Help Us Heal Our Forest With Music

Nature is one of the smartest investments. It’s the most beautiful thing that surrounds everyone, grabs their hearts and ties them together…like a family member. Big Bear is at the heart of the San Bernardino National Forest and filled with so many natural wonders. A passion lies deep to inspire all visitors to show their love for nature by engaging in responsible recreation and caring for their national treasure. Actions today will nurture their souls and inspire those memorable moments in Big Bear they can share with future generations.

Nature Discovery Zone

The Southern California Mountains Foundation is excited to introduce the first Nature Explore Classroom in the National Forest system! The Nature Discovery Zone is an outdoor adventure space designed to enhance nature play and exploration while reconnecting children to nature. The Zone is designed to inspire creativity, connectivity and stewardship to the natural environment for children 2 to 7 years of age. Nine interactive areas to encourage outdoor exploration and unstructured play: a gathering area, nature art, messy materials, building, climbing and crawling, music and movement, pathways through planting, dirt digging, quiet area, and a large open area for unstructured play. Come get inspired at Music in the Mountains. Help show your love for the San Bernardinos and favorite outdoor retreat!
