Kaiser Permanente announces 2024 Rose Parade float, ‘Symphony of You’
Kaiser Permanente announced its 2024 Rose Parade® float theme, “Symphony of You.” The theme represents the many ways Kaiser Permanente works together harmoniously to care for each of its members. The float celebrates life’s milestones and how — like the coordinated, dynamic, and integrated notes of a song — Kaiser Permanente supports its members and the communities it serves.
This year, Kaiser Permanente’s 18th annual float entry embodies the 2024 Rose Parade presented by Honda theme, “Celebrating a World of Music,” by bringing everyone together through music. At the center of the float, a Kaiser Permanente member stands with outstretched arms, surrounded by photos depicting life moments and the caregivers who have helped along the way.
“The physicians and employees of Kaiser Permanente believe it is an honor and privilege to serve in health care and to be part of our members’ and patients’ lives when they are sick and when they are healthy,” said Greg A. Adams, chair and chief executive officer, Kaiser Permanente. “We work together with a shared commitment to provide coordinated, personalized, and compassionate care and service throughout the stages and cherished moments of life.”
The float also features Kaiser Permanente care teams and members standing on a winding piano path that represents the unique notes of every member’s journey and how Kaiser Permanente surrounds and synchronizes its care and services with the rhythm of life. The Los Angeles Philharmonic will perform a special piece of music that conveys the emotion of an individual’s journey, as diverse cultural groups from across Kaiser Permanente dance and walk alongside the float.

DR. ARSINE E. HENRY & TRACI GREEN
Studio City-based, Arsine E. Henry, MD, is a Physician in Charge at Kaiser Permanente’s Glendale Medical offices. She is grateful and honored to represent Kaiser Permanente during the Rose Parade and stand alongside a patient who survived so much. Sunland resident Traci Green is a five-year Kaiser Permanente patient ovarian cancer survivor, displaying strength, resilience, and hope. She is the voice of many and encourages all women to pay attention to their bodies and not to ignore the signs when our body tells us something is not right. If it was not for Traci’s persistence and attention to self-care, she would not be here to tell her story. The theme of this year’s parade resonates with Traci. She found comfort in music, and despite her illness, continued to sing, play her instruments and work with her band ‘The Dickens Country Swing Show’. Traci first hit the stage at age 4 with Bob from Sesame Street. She has spent her whole life as a performer. She has also been a part of Los Angeles’ popular folk music band, “The Hollow Trees” for the past 18 years. Her unwavering spirit has inspired everyone who crossed her path. Dr. Henry and Traci will stand alongside each other as float riders in this year’s Kaiser Permanente Rose Parade float.
SERENA WELCH
Serena Welch is the Manager of the Ambulatory Care Department of Neurosurgery and Neurology at Kaiser Permanente and a part of the Black@KP Business Resource Groups (BRGs). When she was in the third grade, her mother had an aneurysm where a blood vessel in her brain began to leak. That day forever shaped Welch’s life and provided her with a purpose. She thinks of herself as a Kaiser Permanente “baby”, born in the South Sacramento hospital as she’s only ever had Kaiser Permanente as her health care provider. Kaiser Permanente ultimately saved her mother’s life. Welch remembers visiting the hospital and watching the staff take care of her mother. She was in awe of the care and concern she received. Now, it’s a full-circle moment for Serena. The most rewarding part of working at Kaiser Permanente is not only being a part of the team that gets to do this incredible work and directly impact members’ lives, but Welch is in the unique position to partner, guide, support, coach, and care for the individuals that provide care to members and their families.
ALFRED MCCLOUD, LCSW
Long Beach resident Alfred McCloud, LCSW, is a Psychiatric Social Worker at Kaiser Permanente. McCloud grew up near the Watts community and started as an intern obtaining my clinical hours before licensure at Kaiser Permanente. He became a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to walk with others through some of life’s most difficult moments. Being at Kaiser Permanente allows him to be a direct link to providing necessary and free mental health services to community members in some of Los Angeles’ communities with the most need. To McCloud, music is a gateway to healthier living. He uses music not only as a way of connecting and building rapport with youth in Kaiser Permanente’s Kids Can Cope Program, but also as a coping strategy and method of creating space for youth to discover their own inner creativity, mastery of self-regulation, and experience relief from some of life’s greatest struggles. Music, along with other play therapy and art therapy approaches, is used to allow the youth to tend to their grief, sadness, and worries to find peace and control amidst life’s uncertainties.
