Big Bear Fact: The building was originally constructed in the late 1960’s and formally opened as a Circle K. When the building was renovated into a restaurant the “Gold Rush” featured the valley’s rich history in mining. The restaurant then had a stint as an Italian eatery until the 1992 earthquake forced it to close. The Cowboy Express opened its doors in 1993.
Since then, the Cowboy Steakhouse has been serving up fantastic steaks, seafood, ribs, chicken, pasta, and amazing homemade pies. The Cowboy’s collection of antiques and old west memorabilia are fun for guests of all ages. The Nelson family purchased the Cowboy in late 2010 and continue to value tradition while bringing new excitement into this historic restaurant.
