DPYC offers week-long sailing camps from June 8 through August 14 for children ages 6 to 18 and summer-long racing teams for children 12 to 18. DPYC coaches are highly qualified sailors who emphasize fun and safety. Whether it’s your first time on the water, you’re an experienced skipper, or you’re just looking for an adventure on the water, DPYC has something to offer.

    SEA STARS (SUMMER)
An introduction to the world of sailing, this course aims to equip our newest sailors with the skills and knowledge to operate a Tera with a partner. Throughout this course, students will obtain the ability to identity wind direction, points of sail and right of way on the water. Sailors will also demonstrate the ability to tack and jibe, sail upwind and downwind and steer with a tiller extension.
Price: $400 (Early bird specials available!)
Time: Monday, Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

    INTRO TO SINGLE HANDING
A look into what it means to effectively single hand a Tera, this class allows sailors to solidify their understanding of wind direction, correct sail trim, points of sail and tacking and gybing. They will also learn a variety of maritime knots, become comfortable safely dry capsizing a sailboat and gain a basic understanding of the racing rules of sailing. Don’t forget your gear for Pirate day and the Sailing Olympics!
Price: $420 (Early bird specials available!)
Time: Monday, Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

    INTRO TO DOUBLE-HANDING
This class aims to equip sailors with the skills and knowledge to effectively operate a double-handed sailboat (CFJ or Capri 16/14) as both a skipper and crew. Sailors will learn how to work together as a crew to utilize the racing rules of sailing to tactically master upwind and downwind sailing, as well as how to steer with a tiller extension and control their boat in the safety position. They will also sharpen their boat handling skills through practicing correct sail trim, points of sail, tacking and gybing, and racing strategy. The sailors will conclude their week with Pirate Day and the Sailing Olympics, to practice their knots and racing ability.
Price: $440 (Early bird specials available!)
Time: Monday, Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

    INTERMEDIATE SAILING
Designed for the experienced sailor, this class aims to equip sailors with performance sailing skills in either double-handed (CFJ) or single-handed (Laser) boats. Students will review the basics of boat handling and will be introduced to more complex concepts like roll tacking, the importance of weight placement, the basics of performance sail control and shape, and regatta structure.
Price: $460 (Early bird specials available!)
Time: Monday, Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm

    ADVANCED SAILING
Geared towards the sailor who aims to dive headfirst into the world of competitive small-boat sailing (C420, Laser, 29er), this course provides students with the ability to adjust boat speed through proper sail trim, weight placement, and the use of all control lines. Students will gain the ability to demonstrate skills such as finding lay lines, roll tacking, dry capsizing, spinnaker handling, using the trapeze, defensive and offensive maneuvering and many more racing techniques. Inquire with the Sailing Director for curriculum and schedule information
Price: $1,200 (Early bird pricing available!)
Time: Monday, Friday 9:00 am – 4:00 pm (2 weeks)
