Hmm… Where to even begin about this unforgettable experience?
Let’s start with the need: My husband and I are expecting our first child (a beautiful baby girl due August 9th) and although the anticipation of her arrival is unlike any feeling we’ve ever had we also had the feeling of, “Oh no! When will we get to enjoy a vacation together again?” We immediately turned to Celebrity Cruises and found the perfect seven day destination of Bermuda. We were searching for relaxation but also beautiful scenery to enjoy as we relax. What is more beautiful than an open ocean and a port of call with some of the top-rated pink sand beaches in the entire world? If you’re still thinking, you’re correct! There is nothing more beautiful (in our eyes at least!). After booking, we now not only had the anticipation of our daughter, but also the anticipation of a wonderful vacation just weeks away.
The weeks flew by and next thing we knew we were walking into a 7-day experience we will get to look back on for a lifetime. The moment we walked onto the ship, we were greeted with smiles and mimosas. Now as I mentioned I am expecting so unfortunately that mimosa had to be handed over to the lady behind me but it was still a generous perk I won’t forget (and I’m sure our fellow cruisers who got to indulge won’t forget either). From then on it was game, first stop: spa!
The spa had a great deal going on that if you booked a massage at the port of debarkation you received a significant discount. We obviously took advantage of the deal and before we even set sail we were on a massage table taking the whole relaxation part very seriously. We concluded our spa adventure in one of the Jacuzzi tubs located at one of the enclosed pools. Yes, I said one of the pools, there were two! An enclosed pool and an outside pool.
Fast forward to our meals and entertainment, side note: my husband is the pickiest eater EVER, but the first night they offered lobster tail on the menu and we both ordered it. I have to say I was skeptical but to my surprise, he loved it. Would not stop talking about lobster tail, loved it. Needless to say, I was very impressed with the presentation and flavor. I also can’t mention the meals without mentioning the service. There was a waiter there taking our drink order within seconds of sitting down and an additional waiter taking our order just minutes later. My husband ordered two cokes the first night and our drink waiter remembered him and brought him two cokes every night we dined in. A small gesture that went so far in my eyes. Thoughtfulness of the crew seemed to be their number one priority the entire trip.
The entertainment was top-notch and I believe Celebrity definitely tailors their entertainment selections to their audience. Each night was something different but never lacking professionalism or awe. Our favorites were December ’63 (an absolute fantastic group of men that put on a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons), iMagic (an eye-catching magic show) and a comedian (who was cheek and stomach aching funny—he was our ultimate favorite).
Bermuda just speaks for itself. Though the island may be small there is literally something for everyone to do. We were scheduled to be at port for three days and I was worried we wouldn’t have enough to do there for three days. I was most definitely wrong. From horseback riding, to pink sand beaches, to snorkeling/scuba-diving, to catamaran/glass bottom boat excursions, historic crystal caves, swimming with dolphins, and shopping in downtown Hamilton, the list goes on. We chose to go with Horseshoe Bay Beach and explore the Crystal caves and we were not disappointed. I could have stayed at the beach for hours upon hours it was so relaxing and breathtaking.
Our seven day “babymoon” cruise went by way too fast but we are already talking about our next one, with one extra luggage item tagging along and hopefully our families to enjoy another Celebrity vacation with.
