    Scalp Micropigmentation

A New Technology for Balding and Thinning Hair

SMP is a new and innovative technique that offers an alternative styling option for men and women who do not want or are not candidates for hair transplant surgery.

I have been doing hair restoration surgery for 24 years and have invented almost every technology used today including Follicular Unit Transplantation, Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) and the technology used in the ARTAS robot, a revolutionary approach to automating hair transplantation with FUE. I have had many, many satisfied patients and they routinely come to our monthly Open House events to share their experience with prospective patients wanting to learn about the services we offer. I must say, that I have been overwhelmed at the positive response to hair transplants, but never before have I seen such gratitude with our newest technology, a non-surgical cosmetic approach to hair loss and thinning, called Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP).

The experience is best expressed by one of our recent patients, quoted here:

Dear Dr. Rassman: Had the 2nd of my three procedures today. Almost like a sculpture, it really now has started to take shape. Sure, I’ve looked at photos and seen real live guys at your Open House shows who’ve had this process, but there’s nothing like having SMP done to your own challenged head. Once again, Kudos to the technicians who worker harder than stainless steel and have the patients of angels and Dr. Pak who stepped in mid-way and said: “Now it’s time to nail down your front hairline” which he did with the precision of a rocket ship landing on the moon.

But I do have one regret… which I expressed to your staff openly: “Where were you guys 40 years ago when I first coulda used this?”

This man was a happy hair transplant patient of ours, whose hair imparted confidence to his persona, but after the SMP he received last month, he had to write the above comment to share his joy in the new look that SMP gave him.

Another example is a man who came in from St. Louis for his first procedure on a Friday. He wore a wig for 40 years since the age of 21. He is married and in the 35 years of marriage, his wife never saw him without a wig. Everyone knew he had a wig, his wife knew but it was unsaid. He only took it off once a month when he had to have his wig changed and reattached with glue. After the first of three sessions, we gave him a mirror and he started to cry with joy. Our entire staff was overjoyed in his joy. He had great trepidations about going to work with his head shaved on Monday, even though he felt good about how he looked. On Monday, on his lunch break, he called us from St. Louis to tell us that everyone told him he should have shaved his head years ago, as he looked so good. This is a most satisfying process for the doctors here and our entire staff.

It works for people with balding, thinning hair, and scars from brain surgery, previous hair transplant surgery and from a variety of dermatologic conditions that cause scalp scarring. Having someone stare at your head can’t be fun; in fact the worst critic of balding and thinning is our patients themselves. When they make the decision to address their hair loss concerns, they feel good to know that the decision is backed by an experienced medical group that is recognized from around the world, for pioneering in the field and the excellence in the care that is delivered. I, Dr. Rassman, won the Golden Follicle Award given to me by the International Society for Hair Restoration for being voted the finest clinical hair restoration surgeon in the world in 2003.

Come visit us at one of our Open House events and learn about the benefits and the value of seeking a service from us for treating your hair loss. We are now teaching Scalp Micropigmetation to doctors who fly in from all over the world. Our published articles in this field make us the most published doctors in the field of Scalp Micropigmentation. The technique is not only a technical feat, but an art form and from the attached pictures, I think you can see what I mean.
