A stone’s throw from the Dallas Metroplex, Waxahachie is a vibrant, authentic small-town Texas community and the “Crape Myrtle Capital of Texas!” Each summer, the city’s historic streets are lined with hundreds of beautiful pink crape myrtles in full bloom, celebrated by the Crape Myrtle Festival in July.
BUY A LOVE LOCK
No need to fly to New York, Paris, Seoul, or Moscow to leave a token of your love on public display. In keeping with the town’s slogan, “Waxahachie, A Place in the Heart,” the Ellis County Museum sells heart-shaped locks for $10 as a fundraiser. Couples attach their padlocks on a fence half a block away from the museum. Waxahachie is named after the Waxhaw Indian tribe and the Coosaw tribe’s word machine, meaning creek. It started in 1850, along the banks of Waxahachie Creek as an agricultural town.

MUNSTER MANSION
The Munster Mansion is the proud home and hard work of Sandra and Charles McKee. The Munster Mansion is a replica of the house used in “The Munsters” 60s sitcom show. It has been painstakingly recreated room by room, through watching and re-watching footage from the show. Many pieces in the house are from the show or exact replicas of items from the show. This is a living work as each year more detail is added, and more items are collected to make this as precise as it can be. It was a challenging project, as there were no plans or blueprints to go by. The house was completely designed by the use of the show footage. Living in the Munster Mansion is a dream come true for us. Private tours are $120 for up to 4 people. Each additional guest will be $30. Call, message or e-mail to book your private tour of this amazing property!
